Purpose Statement
The New Jersey Science Content Area Standard 5.4.8.D.2 states that all students by the end of grade 8 will understand major geological events, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and mountain building, result from the motion of plates. This pathfinder focuses on one of those major geological events: volcanic eruptions. Middle School students will discover various resources on this event throughout the pathfinder.
Overview
"Volcanic eruptions is the process where liquid, solid and gaseous materials are released into the earth's atmosphere, and onto earth's surface. These eruptions range from a quiet overflow of liquid rock to violent explosions; as seen repeatedly throughout our history."
